BLUE-SKY THINKING ON THE KEIZERSGRACHT
I was honoured to be invited to the first pilot session for a new focus group (KGKR8) at the end of June. Our theme was ‘The value and purpose of social media’.
It was truly inspirational – and particularly our conclusion that as a business, you need to listen to your clients even more. A perfect way to do this is via social media. I hope my Facebook presence is good in this respect. You can comment on my interior design experiences and on our finished projects. Interested in putting us to work on your own premises? Could we come and listen to you sometime?

ARCHITECTURE DAY IN AMSTERDAM
This was an amazing day, as I was shown around by the architects of the IJDock homes and the IJDock Hotel. At the ING building, I was allowed to observe the workings of the ingenious water/air circulation system, again with an explanation from the architect.
The photos show the IJDock homes created by architect Zeinstra van Gelderen, who talked about his decision to design balconies inspired by the East.
3D PRINTING IS GETTING ‘BIGGER AND BIGGER’
There was a nice article about this in NRC Weekend on 24 March.
You can see what a 3D printer is capable of in the Dutch TV programme ‘De Wereld Draait Door’(The World Keeps Turning’). Watch the YouTube version here

MILAN
Salone del Mobile 2013
Each year, we go to the furniture and design show in Milan to see the latest international trends. It gives us the chance to spend a few days just seeing, breathing and talking design. We also have more in-depth conversations with lots of our Dutch colleagues. Truly inspirational. We’re already looking forward to next year’s show (9 till 14 April, 2014).
